Describe the method used to determine amount: Captured volume overflowing manhole

into a five-gallon bucket and timed for one minute to calculate flow.

Location of spill: A lift station serving the City of Maysville collection system. Location:

Elision Drive (lift station # 2).

What waterway was effected? Unnamed tributary to the Grove River

Describe what happened. What caused the spill? Is the spill ongoing? Give details of

the corrective actions. Has the repair been completed? Attach pictures of before and

after the repair and extra sheets if needed for description. Sanitary sewer overflow due

to heavy rainfall event occurring on this date.

Meetings Schedule

The Mayor and Council Workshops are held the last Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at 4 Homer Street. 

The Mayor and Council Regular Monthly Meetings are held the first Monday in every month at 7:00 p.m. at 4 Homer Street.

The Planning and Zoning Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday in every month, 7:00 p.m. at 4 Homer Street. If they have no business the meeting will be canceled.

The Mayor and Council for the City of Maysville will have a Special Called Meeting on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 7:45 a.m. at 4 Homer Street to approve the update to the Maysville Comprehensive Plan.

The Mayor and Council will meet on Thursday, October 4, 2018, 7:45 a.m. to vote on the Soil Erosion, Sedimentation and Pollution Control Ordinance and the maintenance agreement on the water tank.

The City of Maysville will have a Public Hearing on  Thursday, October 4, 2018, 7:30 a.m. to discuss the revisions made to the Soil Erosion, Sedimentation and Pollution Control Ordinance. The Georgia Rural Water Association in cooperation with the City of Maysville will be conducting a smoke test of the City’s sanitary sewer lines. The testing will take place October 8-12, 2018. The purpose of the test is to locate areas where excess water is entering the sewer system during a rain event. In the days prior to the testing please make sure that you run enough water into all sinks, tubs, and floor drains, especially if they are not frequently used, to fill the pea traps. Be advised that you will see smoke coming from the sewer vents on the roof of your buildings. This is normal during the smoke testing. There should not be any smoke inside the buildings, however if you do see smoke inside your home or building this is an indication that a problem with your plumbing exists that could be exposing you to sewer gases. Be advised that the smoke itself is NOT HARMFUL. Location, identification and correction of the source of smoke entering your house or building is urgently advised. The correction of any defects in the pipes and sewer on private property is the responsibility of the property owner.
